Job Description
Make a genuine difference this summer by supporting students with visual impairments in a specialized educational environment. An exciting contract opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI/BVI) in a collaborative, dedicated ESY program. This position runs from June 8, 2026, through August 4, 2026, and offers the chance to work closely with a small but impactful caseload of 10-15 students.
This role is based at a single site, working within an educational center that serves students with both severe behavioral and physical disabilities. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring access, promoting independence, and helping students maximize their learning during Extended School Year services.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Licensed as a Blind/Visually Impaired Teacher (TVI/BVI)
- Prior experience working with students who have significant disabilities or in specialized settings, strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of accommodations and adaptive technologies for visually impaired learners
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff, students, and families
- Compassion, adaptability, and a passion for helping diverse learners achieve their best
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction, modifications, and support for visually impaired students
- Create accessible materials and utilize appropriate technology and techniques
- Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and families to ensure individualized support
- Track progress, conduct assessments, and document student growth
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
This position follows a Monday through Thursday summer schedule, with hours from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., totaling 20 hours per weekall in one location.
