Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their educational growth as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired working with area schools near Albany, GA. This contract opportunity offers the chance to serve a diverse caseload across several campusesprimarily working directly with, and providing consultation for, students who have visual impairments ranging from low vision to total blindness.
Youll work with approximately eight students (with ongoing support for four students weekly and four on a consult basis), including one student who is totally blind and uses braille, across 4-5 school locations. Both direct instruction and consultative services are included, allowing you to apply your expertise in various educational settings. With only 5 hours per week (approximately 2 hours per day), this flexible assignment allows you to manage your schedule while making a genuine impact.
Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) license required
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and providing service in both direct and consultative roles
- Skilled in working with students who are blind or have significant visual impairments, including braille instruction
- Comfortable traveling between multiple school locations
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and consultation for students with visual impairments per their IEPs
- Collaborate with educational teams and provide training/guidance to staff as needed
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials for accessible learning
- Document progress and participate in IEP meetings
