Job Description

In this fulfilling contract position, you will have the opportunity to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple grade levels (EC-12) throughout a district in the Wichita, KS area. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in helping students achieve both academic and social success by implementing tailored strategies and facilitating accessible learning environments.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related credentials
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or spoken language facilitation
  • Understanding of IEP development and special education compliance
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and manage a range of assistive technology
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction to students across EC-12 in both mainstream and specialized settings
  • Adapting curriculum and classroom materials to meet diverse student needs
  • Managing and implementing assistive technology to support accessibility
  • Facilitating effective communication through sign language and/or spoken language
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals in collaboration with team members
  • Advocating for student access and inclusivity in all academic and social situations
  • Traveling district-wide to provide support at multiple school locations

Assignment details:

  • Contract begins 8/11/26 and ends 5/19/27
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Onsite position (potential for future hybrid arrangement)
