This contract opportunity is situated near Wayne, MI, and calls for a compassionate educator with experience in specialized instruction for students with hearing challenges. Youll play a vital role in helping students access curriculum, develop communication skills, and succeed academically.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working in a school environment preferred
- Familiarity with IEPs and progress monitoring
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods for hearing-impaired students
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning and communication needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students with hearing loss, both individually and in group settings
- Assess, develop, and implement IEP goals in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Modify general education curriculum and provide appropriate accommodations or assistive technology as needed
- Serve as a resource for school personnel and families, offering strategies and advocacy for student success
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and collaborate on evaluations
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and independence
