Job Description

Support students academic and personal growth as a skilled professional specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education. Work closely with students, families, and educators to foster inclusive, accessible learning experiences. In this contract position, youll make a measurable difference by providing tailored instruction and advocacy for students with varying degrees of hearing loss.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Experience providing services in educational settings at elementary, middle, or high school levels
  • Strong understanding of auditory equipment, educational technologies, and language access strategies
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities utilized by DHH students
  • Ability to write and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborative communication style for working with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver differentiated instruction in one-on-one, small group, or classroom environments to meet student learning needs
  • Consult with general education staff to promote accessible classroom environments and teaching practices
  • Conduct assessments and interpret audiological/educational evaluations to inform individualized plans
  • Support and teach self-advocacy skills, social development, and language acquisition
  • Guide students in the use of assistive technology and auditory equipment
  • Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and case management activities
  • Train and advise staff on best practices and accommodations for DHH learners
