Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the vibrant region near Virginia Beach, VA. This full-time, itinerant position runs from late August through early June, offering you the chance to work collaboratively with school professionals and families while making a positive impact.

In this role, youll provide direct instruction to students across academic, communication, and functional skill areas, each aligned with individualized education program (IEP) goals. Youll adapt curriculum and classroom materials for accessibilityincluding assistive listening devices and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. As a pivotal member of the educational team, you will teach and support communication methods such as ASL, spoken language, auditory training, or total communication, depending on student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs with input from families, teachers, and related service providers.
  • Assess student progress using a range of evaluation strategies and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Promote inclusivity by consulting with general education staff on accommodations and effective strategies.
  • Foster self-advocacy, social skills, and student independence.
  • Coordinate with audiologists, SLPs, and other specialists for technology support.
