Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting their academic and personal growth as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This full-time, contract opportunity spans the academic year from early September 2026 through early June 2027. Located in the Binghamton, NY area, youll work onsite within a supportive school environment dedicated to fostering inclusion and communication access for students of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid NY State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Experience providing direct instruction and support services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong knowledge of various communication modes, such as American Sign Language (ASL), oral/auditory approaches, and total communication techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with students, families, and education teams
  • Ability to adapt instruction and materials to meet individual learning needs
  • Commitment to creating accessible, engaging classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction aligned with students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide communication and academic support to students in mainstream and specialized settings
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff for classroom planning and modifications
  • Consult with families on supporting student progress at home
  • Participate in IEP meetings and required documentation procedures
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive resources to enhance access
