Bring your passion and expertise in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to a rewarding, full-time contract opportunity near Vestal, NY. Youll become a valued resource, delivering tailored instruction and advocacy to help students thrive academically and socially within an inclusive school community. This onsite position will follow the 2026/2027 school calendar, with exact dates to be confirmed but anticipated to run approximately from early September through early June.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (TDHH)
- Experience or strong knowledge in instructing K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with evidence-based strategies for accommodating diverse communication needs, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral/aural approaches, or total communication
- Strong skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and communication with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Enthusiasm for participating in team meetings, IEP development, and professional growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support, adapting lessons to meet individual student needs
- Liaise with general education teachers and specialists to monitor progress and facilitate classroom accommodations
- Participate in creating and implementing IEPs, contributing valuable insight as an advocate for students needs
- Engage families and caregivers as partners in the educational process
- Support school-wide programming and social-emotional learning initiatives for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
