Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state-specific certification required)
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or Signed Exact English (SEE)
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students according to their IEPs, focusing on both academic content and language development
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials for accessibility and growth
- Use sign language and other communication modalities as needed
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to enhance student success
- Monitor and document student progress, participating in IEP meetings and assessments
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages independence
