Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity is based onsite and provides specialized support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing for the 20262027 academic year. Youll focus on working one-on-one with a student, fostering a supportive environment that empowers growth, learning, and communication.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement or credential (required)
- Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally in a school setting
- In-depth knowledge of Deaf culture, language development, and educational accommodations
- Strong communication skillsverbal, written, and interpersonalwith students, staff, and families
- Able to adapt instructional strategies to meet individualized student needs
- Comfortable working onsite in a school environment throughout the academic year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional services to a student who is deaf or hard of hearing, supporting IEP goals and academic achievement
- Develop and adapt lesson plans, teaching materials, and communication methods according to each students specific needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to foster inclusion and opportunity
- Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary for the best outcomes
- Advocate for accessibility and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring appropriate modifications are in place
