An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in an educational setting in Taos, NM. This contract teaching position is ideal for a professional passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with hearing impairments, providing specialized instruction and fostering inclusive learning environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, addressing their communication, academic, and social needs
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes
- Monitoring student progress and adapting instructional methods accordingly
- Conducting assessments related to hearing and communication skills
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or a related special education credential
- Knowledge of auditory-verbal therapy, sign language, and hearing assistive technology
- Experience working with students who have hearing loss in a school setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with educators, families, and professionals
