Job Description

A K-12 educational position is available for an experienced professional specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction. This contract role is designed to support students unique communication and learning needs, providing specialized teaching services throughout the current school year in the Tacoma, WA area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies and communication methods.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students' academic and social goals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education teachers, to support student success.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly to ensure continuous development.
  • Engage with families and caregivers to provide updates and resources related to student learning and communication needs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure specific to Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students in Deaf and Hard of Hearing educational settings.
  • Knowledge of various communication modes, such as American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, and assistive technology.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a contract position and work collaboratively in a school environment.
