This position offers an opportunity to support students with hearing impairments in a dynamic school setting located in Stone Mountain, GA. As a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, you will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive learning environment that addresses the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance student learning and communication skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other educational professionals to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet evolving needs.
- Provide guidance and support to families regarding communication strategies and resources.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in Deaf Education or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and related communication methods.
- Ability to use and integrate assistive hearing devices in instruction.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
