Job Description

Make a direct impact supporting students with hearing impairments as a contract Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Spanaway, WA area. This full-time, full school year position offers the opportunity to foster meaningful learning experiences in a collaborative educational environment. Youll work with a manageable caseload, providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Washington Teacher Certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing required
  • Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in school settings preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices for supporting students with hearing impairments
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Commitment to promoting accessible, inclusive learning

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting strategies as needed
  • Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven instructional adjustments
  • Participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to set and achieve student goals
  • Consult with school staff on accommodations, modifications, and use of assistive technology
  • Advocate for students needs and work closely with families to communicate progress
  • Stay current with professional development regarding hearing loss and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Caseload details to be finalized, with a focus on manageable numbers for quality instruction
