Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the vibrant Chattanooga area. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 5, 2026, to May 19, 2027, and offers the chance to work in a supportive educational setting, serving learners with hearing differences. Assignments may vary across schools, with a standard 35-hour workweek to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Exact caseload and age group details will be provided soon as the district finalizes placements for the upcoming academic year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and active DOE teaching certification
- Experience or formal training in educating Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students
- Fingerprints completed for credentialing (required)
- Adaptability to serve a range of student ages and work in multiple school settings based on assignment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with school staff and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring lesson plans and strategies to individual learning needs
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and school personnel to maximize student engagement
- Support students social-emotional growth while fostering self-advocacy and independence
- Maintain accurate records, progress monitoring, and documentation as required by district policies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams for holistic student support
