Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a contract role for the 20262027 school year. This opportunity offers full-time hours and involves working within a dynamic school community in the broader Chattanooga area. Assignments may include one or more school sites, with caseload and age group details to be finalized in coordination with district needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state Department of Education certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
  • Experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school environment
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit when working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to tailor instructional strategies to a diverse set of student needs
  • Flexibility to adapt to varied school assignments as caseloads are determined
  • Willingness to complete all time-sensitive credentialing steps, including a fingerprinting background check before the start date

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Collaborate with general education staff, families, and support personnel to foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and data-driven progress monitoring
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies and accommodations designed for student success
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal guidelines

This is a full-time, school-based contract position beginning August 5, 2026, and running through May 19, 2027, scheduled for 35 hours per week. School site assignments and specific caseload information will be shared as the district finalizes student distribution and scheduling.
