Step into an impactful position supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the vibrant Chattanooga area. In this full-time contract role, youll play a crucial part in delivering specialized education and advocacy for students with hearing differences across a range of school assignments. Qualifications:
- Active Department of Education teaching certification required
- Experience teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within schools is highly valued
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse needs
- Willingness to complete necessary fingerprinting prior to the start date
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, with caseload details and age groups to be shared once finalized
- Collaborate with school teams, families, and specialists to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Implement evidence-based strategies that promote language, communication, and academic growth
- Advocate for accommodations, accessibility, and equal participation for students across academic and extracurricular settings
- Participate in ongoing professional development and district meetings as needed
