Job Description
This position offers an opportunity to support students with hearing impairments in a classroom setting during the summer months. The successful candidate will work onsite in Shawnee, KS, providing specialized instruction to K-12 students during June and July 2026. This contract role requires 17 hours per week and focuses on a summer caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing from kindergarten through 12th grade
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in alignment with student needs and educational standards
- Collaborate with educational staff, families, and specialists to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods suited to student abilities
Qualifications:
- Valid Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (TDHH) license
- Valid Kansas teaching license
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing at the K-12 level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and staff
