Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This full-time contract opportunity is located near Guilderland, NY, and centers around supporting students in K-2 and 3-5 self-contained classrooms. Youll work directly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in both a 6:1:2 and an 8:1:2 classroom environment, providing specialized instruction and fostering an inclusive, accessible educational space. Your experience and dedication will help students reach their highest potential.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
  • Experience working with children in early elementary (K-5) is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of auditory impairments and strategies for deaf/hard of hearing instruction
  • Flexible, collaborative, and ready to partner with classroom staff, families, and service providers
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to each students communication needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Modify and adapt curriculum to fit sensory needs and communication modalities
  • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL), cued speech, or other communication methods as appropriate
  • Collaborate with speech pathologists, audiologists, and classroom teachers to promote student success
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings
