Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in an inclusive, engaging educational environment near Schaumburg, IL. This contract role for the 26/27 school year offers a rewarding opportunity to empower learners and collaborate with a dedicated support team.
In this position, youll work 35 hours each week (8:00 am 3:30 pm, with a 30-minute duty-free lunch), providing direct services to a caseload of 14 students across seven school buildings. Mileage between locations is paid to ensure smooth transitions throughout your day.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Endorsement as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working in school or educational settings preferred
- Knowledge of best practices and current strategies for supporting deaf/hard of hearing students
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting content to meet individual needs
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student goal-setting and progress monitoring
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Travel between buildings to support students across a small, manageable caseload
- Maintain thorough documentation and adhere to district/state guidelines
