Whether your specialty lies in teaching ASL or offering tailored support as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, your expertise will foster communication, understanding, and academic achievement.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or ASL instruction
- Proficiency in American Sign Language
- Demonstrated experience supporting high school-aged students, especially those with hearing differences
- Strong communication abilities to collaborate with educational teams, families, and students
- Passion for inclusive practices and differentiated instruction
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging ASL lessons and accessible core subject instruction to high school students
- Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring equitable access to education
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students, facilitating language development and self-advocacy skills
- Work closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
