Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in San Mateo, CA, supporting a districtwide, itinerant caseload from Early Childhood through Transition. This contract position offers an engaging, consultative rolewith the opportunity to provide services across multiple school sites, focusing primarily on the Richmond area.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential and CTC endorsement required
  • Prior experience supporting students with hearing loss in school environments is preferred
  • Familiarity with consultative and itinerant service delivery models
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel between school sites as needed
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across diverse school settings
  • Serve as a consultant to general education staff, providing strategies and resources to ensure accessibility
  • Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Advise on necessary accommodations, assistive technology, and classroom modifications
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and maintain detailed records
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff to support student development and independence
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to deaf education
