Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment near San Antonio, TX. This contract role will begin in August 2026 and continue through late May 2027, with a standard 35-hour week. The upcoming academic year calls for two educators: one positioned with either elementary or middle school-aged students, and the other serving at the high school level. Both roles are integral to empowering students through personalized instruction in core English and Math subjects.
Ideal applicants will bring a strong academic foundation, including an undergraduate degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (an MA is highly desired), alongside a current educator certification. Fluency in American Sign Language is essential and will be assessed in the interview process. The district seeks educators who are not only well-versed in curriculum delivery but who also demonstrate adaptability and genuine passion for supporting DHH students. Specific school assignments and caseloads will be provided prior to placement.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education required; masters degree preferred
- Valid educator certification/license
- Demonstrated skill in teaching Math and English Language Arts
- Fluency in American Sign Language (to be verified during interview)
- Ability to work on-site throughout the contract
- Strong references (to be submitted with application)
- Experience with diverse age groups, particularly elementary, middle, or high school students
Key Responsibilities:
