Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in Sacramento, CA, to support students in a school setting. This contract position involves delivering tailored education and communication strategies to meet the needs of students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic growth and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Utilize specialized techniques and technologies such as auditory-verbal therapy, sign language, and assistive listening devices.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress to adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Provide training and resources to families and staff to support communication and learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with educational standards and regulations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with students who have hearing impairments in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods relevant to the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
