Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing through a contract assignment situated in the scenic Ridgecrest, CA region. This position supports students directly in an onsite setting for the 2026-2027 school year, specifically focusing on 1:1 instruction. You'll become a vital advocate and resource for students with hearing differences, empowering them to thrive academically and socially.
Desired Skills and Background:
- California teaching credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Background in developing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers to provide appropriate accommodations
- Ability to utilize both verbal and sign language modalities in instruction
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of students as caseload details are finalized
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 instruction and individualized support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop strategies, instructional plans, and accommodations to maximize educational access
- Monitor and report student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
- Coordinate with other educators, interpreters, and support staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
