Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting in Ridgecrest, CA. This onsite contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to individual students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic and social growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in one-on-one sessions.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and implement effective communication strategies.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
- Utilize specialized equipment and resources to enhance student engagement and accessibility.
- Participate in team meetings and parent conferences to provide updates and coordinate services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a 1:1 instructional setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams.
- Knowledge of sign language and assistive technology is highly desirable.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Position Details:
- Location: Ridgecrest, CA (onsite only)
- Contract Term: August 6, 2026 May 27, 2027
- Work Hours: 15 hours per week
- Caseload: Primarily 1:1 instruction with potential for additional students
