Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing through a contract assignment situated in the scenic Ridgecrest, CA region. This position supports students directly in an onsite setting for the 2026-2027 school year, specifically focusing on 1:1 instruction. You'll become a vital advocate and resource for students with hearing differences, empowering them to thrive academically and socially.

Desired Skills and Background:

  • California teaching credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Background in developing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience collaborating with general education teachers to provide appropriate accommodations
  • Ability to utilize both verbal and sign language modalities in instruction
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of students as caseload details are finalized

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 instruction and individualized support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop strategies, instructional plans, and accommodations to maximize educational access
  • Monitor and report student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
  • Coordinate with other educators, interpreters, and support staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
