Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility to obtain one
- Thorough understanding of Deaf culture, ASL proficiency, and assistive hearing technologies
- Previous experience working in a school setting with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and general education staff
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students hearing needs within both mainstream and specialized classroom settings
- Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with students, families, and school teams
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to ensure full access to educational content
- Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and other related service providers
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Educate and support the school community about Deaf awareness and accessibility
