Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility to obtain one
  • Thorough understanding of Deaf culture, ASL proficiency, and assistive hearing technologies
  • Previous experience working in a school setting with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and general education staff
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students hearing needs within both mainstream and specialized classroom settings
  • Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with students, families, and school teams
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to ensure full access to educational content
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and other related service providers
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Educate and support the school community about Deaf awareness and accessibility
