Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or demonstrated experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language; comfortable instructing students in ASL as well as providing core subject support
  • Previous experience working with high school-aged students preferred
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet each students unique needs
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills essential for fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging ASL and core academic lessons tailored for high school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to design and modify curriculum materials
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate, comprehensive records
  • Communicate regularly with families and school teams regarding student development
  • Contribute to IEPs and participate in meetings to support student goals
  • Foster a classroom culture of inclusion, empowerment, and curiosity
