Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This onsite, full-time contract position is located in the Binghamton, NY area for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, with exact calendar dates to be finalized. Youll be central to empowering students with hearing differences, fostering communication skills, and helping them thrive academically and socially.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or be eligible for New York State TDHH licensure
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of hearing assistive technology and accommodations
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt instructional approaches to meet individual student needs
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, based on individual needs and IEP goals
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies for optimal outcomes
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to integrate supports and promote inclusion
- Advocate for student accessibility, participation, and self-advocacy within the school environment
- Maintain accurate student records, document progress, and participate in team meetings as required
- Provide guidance on hearing aids, cochlear implants, and amplify classroom communication as needed
