Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (TDHH)
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education with a focus on Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Dedication to creating an accessible, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the IEP goals of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs, providing both academic and social-emotional support
  • Utilize assistive technology and visual communication methods to maximize student engagement and learning
  • Monitor and report on student progress; participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to foster a supportive home-school partnership
