Embark on a rewarding school-based contract opportunity near Owego, NY as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (TDHH)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education with a focus on Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Dedication to creating an accessible, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the IEP goals of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs, providing both academic and social-emotional support
- Utilize assistive technology and visual communication methods to maximize student engagement and learning
- Monitor and report on student progress; participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Engage with parents and caregivers to foster a supportive home-school partnership
