Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Binghamton, NY area. This is a full-time, onsite contract role spanning the 20262027 school year (anticipated September 4, 2026 to June 1, 2027). The assignment focuses on providing expert instruction and specialized services to ensure each student can achieve academic and personal success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (TDHH)
  • Experience working in K12 settings with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of current best practices in deaf education, including use of assistive technology and visual communication strategies
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
  • Ability to create individualized educational plans (IEPs) and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and advocacy skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in both individual and group settings
  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each students needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to maximize student access and engagement
  • Provide guidance on the use of amplification devices and other accommodations
  • Support students social and emotional growth, self-advocacy, and communication skills
