This opportunity seeks a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting. This contract position is based in Overland Park, KS, and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the educational success and communication skills of students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Provide direct instruction and support in language, auditory, and speech development
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists to ensure effective service delivery
- Use a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance learning
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Communicate with families to involve them in the educational process and provide resources
Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent certification
- Experience working with students who have hearing impairments
- Knowledge of auditory-oral, total communication, and other instructional methods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an educational team environment
