Job Description

This full-time, school-based contract role for a skilled professional experienced with DHH students offers the chance to inspire and empower learners across a variety of schools in the Chattanooga area. The position runs from early August through late May, providing an engaging and rewarding academic year.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid and active Department of Education certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
  • Strong background in teaching or supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in school environments
  • Familiarity with diverse communication methods and assistive technologies for DHH learners
  • Ability and willingness to obtain required fingerprint clearance for credentialing
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying school assignments and diverse student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure inclusive and supportive learning experiences
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to develop educational plans tailored to student needs
  • Adjust teaching strategies based on student progress, feedback, and best practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ongoing communication with district staff
