Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2026-2027 school year in the Chattanooga area. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work across various schools within the district, providing specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The caseload and specific age groups you'll serve will be shared once district numbers are finalized, ensuring your assignment is tailored to where you can make the greatest impact.

Qualifications:

  • Valid DOE teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field is required
  • Experience teaching or supporting children who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings preferred
  • Must complete fingerprinting and meet credentialing requirements prior to start date
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, students, and families

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support services to deaf and hard of hearing students, adapting curriculum and methods to best meet individual needs
  • Work closely with general and special education staff to develop and implement IEPs
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Serve as a resource on hearing impairment for staff, families, and the school community
  • Travel to different school sites as assigned to provide consistent services

Position Details:

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Assignment begins August 5, 2026 and concludes May 19, 2027
  • School placements and caseloads will be finalized shortly
