Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing on a contract basis near Olathe, KS. In this important role, youll collaborate closely with school staff and families to provide specialized instruction for students with hearing impairments. Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
- Experience working with children or adolescents with hearing impairments
- Firm grasp of educational technology and adaptive equipment related to hearing loss
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Flexibility and commitment to meeting diverse student needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of settings
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to individual learning styles
- Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and parents to support student goals
- Assess students progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute thoughtful recommendations for student success
- Provide consultation and training to teachers and staff about accommodating students with hearing losses
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
