Desired Qualifications:
- Hold a valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Demonstrated patience, creativity, and understanding of diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to modify curricula and create accessible lessons
- Monitor student progress and conduct ongoing assessments to guide instruction
- Implement and support the use of assistive listening devices and classroom technology
- Advocate for students' access and inclusion in all school activities
- Facilitate language development and social-emotional growth
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and needs
