Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Louisiana Department of Education certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teachers (Required)
- Strong background in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction, with experience in school-based settings preferred
- Ability to quickly complete credentialing, including a drug screen and fingerprinting, per district and agency requirements
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom experience for students with diverse communication needs
- Competence with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), progress monitoring, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing specialized methodologies to support language and academic development
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet the individualized learning needs of each student
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and participate actively in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with other educators, related service providers, and families to provide holistic support for each student
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
