A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students in New Orleans, LA. This contract position runs through May 22, 2026, aligning with the current school year calendar.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grade levels K-12
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students communication and learning needs
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and audiologists to ensure comprehensive educational support
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing is required
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in a K-12 setting preferred
- Ability to complete district-required drug screening and fingerprinting promptly
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with students, parents, and educators
- Availability to work full time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday, following the school calendar
