Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Bachelors degree in Special Education, preferably with a focus on Deaf Education.
  • Previous experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

Location:

  • New Orleans, Louisiana

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with Deaf or Hard of Hearing needs.
  • Create a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes effective learning.
  • Employ a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles and communication methods.
  • Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and staff to support students' overall development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
