Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a supportive school community near New Orleans, LA. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to work closely with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, helping them achieve academic and personal growth in an inclusive setting. In this full-time onsite role, you will be a key advocate and resource, bringing expertise and passion to every student interaction. Caseload assignments will be determined based on your experience and the needs of the school.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Louisiana Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License
  • Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing is preferred
  • Strong understanding of instructional strategies for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Commitment to fostering an accessible, encouraging learning environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans that accommodate a range of abilities and language modalities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and other service providers
  • Advocate for accessibility and accommodations within the school setting
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records to support student success
  • Stay current with best practices and professional development in deaf education
