Job Description

A full-time position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students onsite in New Orleans, LA. This contract role spans the normal school year and offers the opportunity to work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, delivering specialized instruction designed to meet their educational and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
  • Provide support and instruction tailored to the unique needs of deaf and hard of hearing students across grade levels
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to enhance student learning and integration
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly to ensure academic and social growth
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mentorship programs

Qualifications:

  • Valid Louisiana Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License
  • Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a K-12 environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse learning needs
