Job Description
A full-time Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing is needed to support K-12 students in a school-based setting in Mooresville, NC. This contract position follows the school calendar year (CSY) and requires on-site work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Deliver specialized education services tailored to students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) utilizing research-based strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans with differentiated instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Conduct screenings and evaluations as necessary to assess student needs and progress
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, including preparing present levels, goals, and documenting services
- Monitor student progress regularly and manage classroom behavior effectively
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation including notes, reports, and IEP records
- Collaborate closely with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student success and comply with Special Education regulations
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Deaf/Hard of Hearing Professional Educators License (submission of an active license screenshot required)
- Experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage caseload of approximately 1012 students effectively
- Commitment to on-site, full-time work schedule (40 hours/week, school calendar)
Location: This position is based in a K-12 school setting in Mooresville, North Carolina, requiring on-site attendance.
