Job Description

This full-time contract opportunity is for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serving K-12 students in the Metairie, LA area. The assignment is scheduled from ASAP through May 22, 2026, following a typical school calendar with 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the K-12 spectrum.
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans tailored to students' communication and learning needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to enhance student success and inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and compliance with district and state requirements.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing is required.
  • Candidates must be currently certified and ready to begin immediately; no pending licensure processes.
  • Completion of district-mandated drug screening and fingerprinting.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations at various grade levels is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
