This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 3 to May 21 and welcomes passionate educators experienced in working with the D/HH population. Based near Mesa, AZ, youll enjoy hands-on teaching in a collaborative school setting. There is also the potential to interview for virtual positions, offering added flexibility for skilled candidates.
What youll bring:
- Valid Standard Professional Certificate with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (K-12) Endorsement
- IVP Fingerprint Card (must be current/eligible)
- Demonstrated experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally across various grade levels
- Understanding of accommodation strategies and assistive technologies that support auditory and language learning
- Commitment to fostering an accessible, inclusive classroom environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, families, and multidisciplinary team members
Your core responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to deaf/hard of hearing students learning needs
- Develop, implement, and document Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Employ specialized teaching techniques, visual supports, and communication methods (such as American Sign Language or Cued Speech, as needed)
- Assess student progress and adjust lesson plans to achieve developmental and academic goals
- Provide support, resources, and training to staff and families to ensure full inclusion in the school community
- Collaborate with other professionals in planning, meetings, and professional development
