Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related area
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other specialized communication methods
- Previous experience working in a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with students, families, and staff
- Adaptability and creativity in delivering individualized instruction and accommodations
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both in individual and group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize a range of communication methods and technologies to support diverse learning needs
- Assist classroom teachers in adapting curriculum and implementing strategies for inclusion
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records to ensure educational goals are met
- Serve as an advocate and resource for families and colleagues on issues related to hearing loss in the school environment
