Job Description

A specialized teaching opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting located at McConnell Air Force Base, KS. This contract position offers the chance to provide critical educational services tailored to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they receive accessible and effective instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Utilize specialized teaching techniques and assistive technologies to meet students unique learning needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and general education teachers.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Provide consultation and support to families and school staff regarding hearing loss and related accommodations.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation in compliance with educational guidelines and policies.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
  • Experience working in school environments supporting students with hearing impairments.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to diverse educational settings.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to the needs of individual students.
  • Familiarity with assistive hearing devices and technologies.
