Join a dedicated educational team as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, supporting students in their academic and social development. This contract position is based in Matthews, NC, and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Providing specialized instruction to support language, communication, and literacy development
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other specialists to ensure inclusive learning environments
- Assessing student progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Communicating effectively with parents and guardians to engage them in their childs education and progress
- Staying current with best practices and assistive technology related to deaf and hard of hearing education
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of auditory and visual learning strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
