This is a contract opportunity for a passionate educator eager to work on site and support students across an entire county rather than in a single school. Youll join a dedicated team that values your in-person presence and collaborative approach, serving a diverse group of approximately 30 students including some with cochlear implants.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent credentials
- Demonstrated experience working with students with hearing differences, including those utilizing assistive hearing devices like cochlear implants
- Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies and communication methods for individual student needs
- Comfort and enthusiasm for traveling between multiple school sites within the county
- Excellent collaboration skills, working seamlessly with hearing specialists, general educators, and families
- Commitment to maintaining and supporting an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to deaf and hard of hearing students in varied educational settings
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials based on individual education plans (IEPs)
- Consult and collaborate with educational teams and families to optimize student development
- Conduct assessments, track progress, and maintain accurate documentation
- Foster student self-advocacy skills and independence through differentiated teaching and communication support
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in deaf education within the county
