Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education or eligibility in Georgia
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed Exact English, or other modes of communication as appropriate
- Comprehensive understanding of IEP process and accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-focused learning climate
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction aligned with students IEPs
- Develop lesson plans that address language, literacy, and content goals utilizing various communication modalities
- Collaborate closely with general education staff, speech-language pathologists, and support personnel to ensure student success
- Provide ongoing consultation and training for teachers regarding modifications and accommodations
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and participate in IEP meetings
- Encourage self-advocacy and support social-emotional development in students who are deaf or hard of hearing
