Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) or equivalent credentials.
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or familiarity with other communication methods.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with educators, families, and specialists.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct specialized instruction to students with hearing loss in individual, small group, or classroom settings.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with school teams.
- Adapt general education curriculum to meet students unique communication and learning needs.
- Support and train teachers and staff in inclusion strategies and accessibility accommodations.
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and families, guiding them through educational challenges.
- Utilize technology and assistive devices to enhance learning and access.
