Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent state credential
- Demonstrated experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
- Proficiency in a variety of communication modalities (such as American Sign Language, lip reading, oral/aural)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with educators, families, and related service providers
- Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet individualized education plan (IEP) goals and support diverse learning needs
- Knowledge of current assistive technologies and best practices in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring access to curriculum and fostering academic success
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each students unique communication and learning needs
- Coordinate with general education teachers and related staff to promote an inclusive classroom environment
- Advocate for student needs, ensuring equitable access to classroom resources and technology
- Assess student progress regularly and adapt approaches to maximize learning opportunities
- Provide guidance and resources to families and school team members regarding Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
