Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid teaching credentials for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students
- Comprehensive understanding of auditory impairments and communication strategies, including ASL, cued speech, or total communication
- Experience designing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong advocacy skills for students and families, with a collaborative approach when working with general and special education teams
- Effective written and verbal communication, documentation, and organizational abilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting instructional methods to individual learning needs
- Conduct classroom, small group, and individual teaching sessions across various age groups
- Employ multiple communication modes and technology to support student access to the curriculum
- Partner with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and school staff to deliver comprehensive educational support
- Regularly assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation in line with IEPs and school policies
- Offer consultative services to staff and families, promoting awareness and strategies for accessibility
- Advocate for a positive, inclusive educational experience for all students
