A school in Lowell, MA is seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing for a contract position. This role is ideal for an educator experienced in supporting students with hearing impairments, helping them access the curriculum and develop communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies to enhance student learning and engagement
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Provide guidance and support to students on social and emotional development related to hearing loss
- Maintain documentation and communicate regularly with school staff and parents
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Experience working in a classroom or educational setting with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of auditory and visual communication techniques
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
