Job Description

Providing specialized education for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, this contract position offers the opportunity to work within a K-12 school setting in Leominster, MA. The role calls for a dedicated educator skilled in delivering direct instruction in reading, literacy, and American Sign Language (ASL) services to ensure effective communication access. Emphasis is placed on creating an inclusive classroom environment that respects both spoken and signed language modalities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in reading and literacy tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Provide American Sign Language (ASL) services to facilitate communication access.
  • Develop and maintain an inclusive learning environment honoring multiple language modalities.
  • Collaborate with staff to support students' language development and mastery of content across subjects.
  • Manage a caseload of students requiring specialized instruction and support.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) Massachusetts License.
  • Proven experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of literacy strategies for Deaf learners.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with educators and support staff.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible educational environment.

Work Details:

  • Onsite position based in Leominster, Massachusetts.
  • Full-time or part-time hours available.
  • Contract duration: Non-School Year (NSY).
