Seeking a skilled educator specialized in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction to support students in a school setting located in Lawrence, KS. This is a contract position ideal for professionals passionate about making a meaningful impact on the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Collaborating with colleagues, families, and related service providers to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Utilizing assistive technologies and communication methods appropriate for each student's unique needs
- Monitoring student progress and adapting instructional strategies accordingly
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in deaf education
- Providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure in Deaf Education or a related specialized area
- Proven experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a K-12 educational environment
- Strong knowledge of communication modalities such as American Sign Language (ASL) and oral communication methods
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support student needs
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
