Make a meaningful impact working with students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a contract role near Lakewood, WA. This full-time, full-school-year opportunity is focused on supporting a small caseload of students in an engaging educational environment. Caseload specifics will be provided soon, but you can expect the chance to deliver specialized instruction and foster communication skills in students with hearing differences.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Washington State teaching license for Deaf/Hard of Hearing required
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of best practices and current strategies for DHH education
- Strong skills in written and verbal communication
- Ability to collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Developing and implementing IEPs based on each student's individual needs
- Working proactively with classroom teachers and school staff to support accommodations
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining required documentation
- Offering consultation to staff and families on effective communication strategies
- Participating in IEP meetings, team discussions, and ongoing professional development
